3 differences between Piccola Cucina tortillas and wheat flour tortillas
Discovering a suitable tortilla/wrap option that is not only delicious, but also gluten-free and protein-rich, can be challenging. Despite the many choices available in the market today, the reality remains that not many qualify as a health-conscious selection, nor do they cater to conditions linked to sugar or allergies.
We want to therefore share the differences between traditional wheat tortillas and ours:
The protein content in a 7-inch flour tortilla can vary based on factors such as brand and recipe. Generally, a standard 7-inch flour tortilla may contain around 2 to 3 grams of protein.
However, it is important to highlight that for a more precise protein count, you should check the nutrition label on the tortilla's packaging or refer to a reliable nutritional database.
Our tortilla/wrap contains 6 grams of protein; which is double the protein of a wheat tortilla. This is thanks to the ingredients used, including almond flour, a nut rich in protein. coconut flour, and pea protein.
2. Less carbohydrates
Carbohydrate content, like protein, can vary with formula and brand. A normal tortilla can contain approximately 18-20 grams of carbohydrates in total.
Our original tortilla/wrap, contain 10 grams of carbohydrates (Fiber 8 grams, Sugars 2 grams). Which is 2 net carbs. Great for those following keto, or needing low carb.
3. Source of Potassium and Calcium
A standard 7-inch flour tortilla is typically not a significant source of either potassium or calcium. Flour tortillas are primarily made from flour, water, salt, and sometimes fat, and they generally don't contain substantial amounts of vitamins and minerals like potassium or calcium.
However, there might be trace amounts of these minerals present due to the ingredients used in the tortilla's preparation, but they are unlikely to provide a substantial portion of your daily potassium or calcium intake.
Our original tortillas/wraps contain 50 mg of potassium, 30 grams of calcium and 1.5 grams of Iron. This is thanks to ingredients such as ground almonds, ground golden flax, coconut flour, psyllium husk, pea protein.
